STEVE THORP:

I've managed to check this spot out by parking at Llansteffan. The tide height was approximately 4.5m so quite a lot of water covering the sand bars. The wind was blowing a strong southerly, probably not a use able direction.

Immediately obvious is that there's a speed strip directly in front of Llansteffan facing SE which looks to work best in a NNW (WNW being gusty due to the hill/castle).

Off to the right as you look out onto the estuary is another obvious speed strip. This one looks to have huge potential with clean wind from WNW to SW and a very long run.

There may be other spots further out to sea but these were hard to make out. Although it looks like there's a huge bar across the estuary mouth and another long course on the far right working in N to W. The land is fairly low lying in the surrounding area.

So over all I think if you turned up with wind from the North round to South West you'd certainly get a sail on flat water with clean wind from mid tide and below!
