How windy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Image

The 18th of January 2007 will no doubt go down in history as the windiest day of my life!!

Image

I'd guesstimate 70Knots, the local weather station said 84mph. Motorways were closed, houses blown down and acne blown off teenagers..

Image

We arrived at 9am, but sadly didn't pluck up the balls to launch until 3pm..

Image

This is the first time in my life I've had to sit it out! Oh how I wish I owned a 4m race sail..

Image

And even more gutted was Whitey, who'd just sold his 4.5 and 5m Vapour, before today I'd have questioned why he ever owned them..

Image

We were joined by Martin Van Muers who whopped us all with a 49Knot run on his 4.2 Stealth. Bloody impressive as it wasn't exactly flat water!

Image

I've got no windsurfing pics...      :(

How windy!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The local weather station readings...

My fastest runs of 44.7 Knots were at 4pm..

First time over 45Knots!!

Simon Hinckly.

What a day!

This puts me 2nd in the 2007 GPS rankings, and top 10 in the all time.

Bob launching, and Si at the end of the day...

My Gps showed a 46 Knot max.
On the quickest run I was just being blasted along sheeted out by a 55Knot gust!
It felt pretty crazy and not the usual sensation of everything becoming light and easy after the initial 'sling shot'.

It was proper windy, 45-55 Knots.
Too square most of the day but quick at around 10am when everyone did their fastest runs.

Whitey now leads the ranking after doing 48 Knots at Southend. Top stuff.
Bob Cunningham also had a good day to make it 3 brits in the top3 for '07.

My new improved Aly Asy fin managed 43 Knots, but felt too big for todays 50 Knot wind.

New Year Cornwall

Went down to St Ives for New Year for the 4th time in a row.
As usual cornwall delivered and we had 4 days sailing..

Image

Image
The King brothers ripping (excuse my rubbish camera, but you get the idea..)

A decent day at Gwithian, followed by a gusty day at the Bluff, then an afternoon sess at Porthmeor (gusty but the most fun day I had) then New Years day at Daymer (very windy, high tide and bolt onshore..)

Image
Porthmeor.

Lots of wind, but lots of squalls and rain too made it difficult to make the most of the conditions, I felt like I was on the wrong sail for the whole 4 days!!
But what a great year we've had.

Finished off with some sillyness in St Ives..
